500 YEARS OF REFORMATION
"This Changed Everything"

The church was born 2000 years ago when Jesus Christ commissioned His disciples to spread
the good news of a new covenant based on the truth and grace of God's love and sacrifice.
Jesus taught a new way of living where "the first shall be last, and the last shall be first."
He prayed that His church would be united as one in its beliefs and relationship to God.
But typical of human nature, man began to distort the teachings of Jesus that led to
numerous beakaway factions of heretical and uorthodox practices and traditions,
unsuppported by Scriptures.  Eventually, the one universal church broke into two major
rivals, the eastern Christian orthodoxy and the western Catholics.  If the church were to
survive as Jesus envisioned, the two sides would have to come to agreement on major changes.
The changes started 500 years ago on October 31, 1517, when an obscure German monk
by the name of Martin Luther nailed his 95 Thesis of challenges on the chapel door in
Wittenberg, Germany.  Little did he know that he would set off an unprecedented
firestorm of debate that would reshape the Christian church and change western civilization
forever. Did the reformers get it right?

This study will use a dynamic video series produced by The Christian History Institute that
poses vital questions about unity, truth, and the future of the Christian church.  We will
discuss what the reformation was all about and why it is still important to the church today.
